Hi everyone

I hope all okay for both yourselves and your properties after the floods and weather problems.

Only a few of us at yesterday´s meeting so Pauline was able to give everyone a well received message-  thanks Pauline - a very interesting and at times fun afternoon.

A reminder that the clock´s go backwards an hour on Saturday night.  Winter is on its way and Christmas not far off.  I have noticed the shops here are getting earlier each year with their festive items. When I first moved to Spain Christmas didn´t start until the beginning of December.

Thinking of Christmas .....

We have not raised the usual Christmas amount from the penny-pot for the Teenagers Home in Benissa. so any donations however small more than welcome.

Also regarding the teenagers, they are in desperate need of toiletries - again any donations appreciated from a tube of toothpast to a bag of all things needed in a bathroom.  The donations can be handed in at the restaurant at Javea Golf Club - marked for IAN.  Or brought along to any meeting for me to take to Ian who is our go-between with the Home.  - The Government/Council does supply items for the teenagers, but a minimum amount and never enough for what they actually need.

Back to Christmas (and all year round)

The local Charity  Project 4 All  helps all in need at any time and especially at  times like recently with the  floods -  Kevin at Marley´s Bar has a collection box on the bar but the charity is also asking for donations of gifts at Christmas. The donations being a shoebox for males and females with items such as gloves, hats, socks, sweets, dried fruits, and female hygiene products for the ladies.

All donations money or boxes of items can be handed in at Marleys at our meetings or other times when the bar is open.

I appreciate that you all have your favourite Charities to make donations especially at this time of year, but hopeully you will also consider the ones above being the ones the group support.

Many of you have no doubt heard about our local lad (man) Lee who wants to raise the money to open a home especially for old dogs - old dogs who have lost their homes due to their elderly owners either passing over or unable to look after their pet.  Old dogs who are used to comfort and could not cope with being in a cage and on a concrete floor. Lee started out in August to run from the top of Denmark to the south of Spain.  He ran a marathon every day through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and finally arrived a few weeks ago in Spain.  However .... unfortunately while running near Barcelona Lee was run over by a car and ended up in hospital with concussion - the bang on the head needing four staples, he also has a broken finger, sore knees and no doubt lots of aches and pains. BUT,  he is not giving up.  When recovered Lee will start again from Barcelona and make his way to the south of the country in January.  Please wish him well in his recovery.

Let us hope the weather stays fine now and back to normal Spanish climate. Take care, love to all

Jan. x
